Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

The RX8 really isn't a car to pootle about in, that really is where most of its problems lie. If you reckon on about 17mpg, and then get about 20 mpg, you are doing well. As for 4400, that possibly isn't revving it enough.

Bob Crow

I'm sure a lot of people on here will probably be glad he has gone. However, he will be badly missed, his leadership of the RMT, especially the rail section was very very effective, he quickly worked out how best to play the new way of doing things, and certainly did this very effectively. He will b...

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

They are great cars, actually, you would be the ideal owner of one, mainly because you would thrash the bollocks off it, which is exactly what they need!! Don't forget to keep the oil changed, because when they flood, which they all do, the excess petrol goes straight into the sump. Yes, they are gr...

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

RX8s are great cars, fantastic engines etc etc. Word of warning tho, if you are seriously thinking of buying one, the spark plugs are £50 each, ignition coils, I think are £90 each, and the cats are a £1000+ I recently heard of an RX8 needing plugs coils, and a cat, and the bill came to about £2000....

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

Go to Halfords, and they should be able to sell you a wiring harness, with connector blocks, to convert from the Pug, to the Sony. This saves cutting any wires etc.

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

To be honest, where steering/suspension geometry are concerned, I'm in the if it isn't broken, don't fix it league. If when you change your tyres, they are evenly worn, why adjust something that is working?

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

Petrol going stale, well yes it can, but this would only really become noticeable over a period of months. Cars being difficult to start after months of storage, is more likely to be due to a loss of compression. To overcome this, remove the spark plugs, making sure they are clean and dry. Then put ...

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

The usual issue with steamy windows is water ingress into the car. Redassing of am aircon system, is a good idea every couple of years as it gets rid of any moisture that may have got in.

Re: THE ULTIMATE CAR THREAD

This where it gets interesting. My understanding is, that if you go through the insurance route, the insurance company have to repait the car back to as new. There is something called betterment, but this is usually limited to wear items such as tyres, or batteries etc.
