Install prosilver

Postby Dan » Sun Apr 15, 2007 4:26 pm

The new phpBB theme, as modeled at http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/index.php

Should it be installed or not?

It will be installed once it is finished (but not forced on people, subsilver will remain the default with the option of using prosilver). The current beta version is not included with the Beta5 release because it has some nasty issues with the Admin and Mod control panel. Once RC1 is released it will be installed along with that.

Actually can you even download prosilver yet?

Yes, it's in CVS. It should be relatively trivial to install the style, but not actually update the backend code (I think).

I think this site has been down enough without using highly changeable CVS snapshots. Rest assured it will be in RC1 and will be installed then.

You don't have to install the snapshot (admittedly a bad idea for a live site), just the style (which should have no impact on the stability of the site whatsoever).

The buttons are in CVS:
http://phpbb.cvs.sourceforge.net/phpbb/ ... iew=markup

And the vote isn't to install it as the sole and default theme, but as an additional one.

I've tried 4 different snapshots working back from the latest and although the files are there the templates seem to be screwed or incompatible with B5. I shall remove the theme later tonight so make sure you don't have it set to default.

Then whats the point in having a vote?

Seeing as RB said it would be installed anyways.
