Tapatalk/Forum Upgrade

Ward mentioned this in the mobile theme referendum vote 4 years ago but nothing came of it. Shame, since I do think it'd enhance the forum for mobile users (ie. all users).

Oh dear god no, don't let that POS invade the forums here, it's fucking everywhere else and it's fucking awful.

Okay, well, let me just state that I don't mind it being installed here BUT ONLY if it doesn't bother me with a pop up or a splash page when I try and view here on iOS. So many other forums do, and it's just a waste of time as there is nothing wrong with the forum on even an iPhone 4 screen. Assuming we can do it here and it's unobtrusive, then I say go for it.

New version of phpBB is out in five days which will bring responsive / mobile friendly design changes. Obviously this won't include the full quotient of taptalk features but equally it won't involve any pop ups that make me want to scoop out my eyes with a rusty spoon.

Shall we rediscuss after a few weeks of phpBB 3.1?

I can't do the update as we're hosted on Si's server these days but have let him know we're ready for much update and doubtless he will be on it soon 8)

Whilst we wait for Si I did a trial of the update on my local server. It worked OK.

So mobile friendly.
