This thing, this place will never be more than a forum, a community. The e-zine was tried and for whatever reason it didn't work.

I don't think our current user base have the time or inclination to do more than shoot the breeze in random posts and threads.
Therefore, I think going out of the way to come up with a domain name which didn't include 'forum' would be pointless and fruitless.

What would be the point in expanding into other areas? To attract more visitors... but then what can we offer that is new, exciting and different...........

otherplaceforum.com wins tbh.

Unless there is a massive swing in opinion before this evening, I'll register otherplaceforum.com, and point it to the new server. Once the DNS has propagated, I'll lock this forum, set up a 301 redirect from this domain (so we don't loose out on being googled again), and restore the database as it was pre-lock on the new server. There shouldn't be more than about 5 minutes of downtime.

That's what RB thought, and now he crawls the streets looking for puddles of fresh piss to keep himself warm.

I jest, of course.

I did a trial run just, and bar the configuration table disappearing into oblivion, the whole process can be completed successfully in under 60 seconds :P

http://www.otherplaceforum.com is registered.

The DNS has propagated here, but I'll leave it till tomorrow afternoon before moving everything to the new server.

Truth
A slight majority of a statistically worthless sample size agree.

Minor issue, but the boards time seems completely out of sync.

Otherwise a Stirling effort Mr Dan.

Clear your cookies - probably residual ones from the old location throwing things out of whack.

You are also correct on the times Nem - the server lives in America, so all the times are set for them. I shall endeavour to get it corrected asap.
