A section of the forum for music.....

I'd love to see a section of the forum for Music production, Instrument playing, sharing ideas, collaboration on projects, tips and tricks.

Not sure if its relevant but thought I'd chuck the idea out

I personally don't see the point in having another section on the forum with a relatively small number of topics in it which would fit just as well within GD.

Movies production and discussion in another.
Gereneral news items and chit chat in the third.

In which case, I suggest we have another forum for cars, one for pets, one for Big Brother, one for Cool Stuff.... Etc.

IMO, the reality is that there is nowhere near the volume of posts at current (either on the subject, or indeed in total) to justify another whole forum. Nothing looks noobier than a forum with 5 members and 28 forums (whilst that isn't true here, I'm sure you get my sentiment).

We already have a music thread that hardly gets used. A section would just end up being one thread that hardly gets used surely?

Its cool eitherway, just want to make it clear this isnt the same as the music thread which I understood to be about what music people are listening too and not about making music or playing an instrument.

Perhaps now I've brought it up if people start talking about this more and sharing ideas we can then revisit the suggestion in the future?

Personally i'd say yes as it's a whole new kettle of fish as a subject.
Probably would generate shitloads more interest than (example) coding and maybe even open up a new world of fun for people that have never even thought about it.

I remember sending a certain someone on this forum Propellerheads discs through the post about 4 years ago, can't help wondering if that really did help the interest along

I know for a fact that I gave up messing about with Midi / computer music after playing (read trying to play) with Propellerheads and Cubase and if there was a forum full of people that I actually knew(ish) anyway I may have persued it a lil further.

Seperate music forum, for production, your own stuff, discussion, then we can have millions of seperate threads for each and every album that comes out

and Mark yeah reason got me started very well, man I remember that quite well it was in the frustrating days when I moved back to the Island and went from a cable connection to dialup as they island wasnt ADSL enabled then.
