I built a PC for a family friend and he took delivery of it about 2 months ago. Was having issues as he wanted Win XP (not sure why) as well as Win 10 but XP didnt want to install on the new PC.
The interim solution was to install Win 7 and have XP mode too
There are no real issues yet just a few queries
1- Integration Features allows the XPVM to either be sandboxed in its' own world or see the hosts resources such as additional storage.
I can import the .vhdx into disk manager and then see the files on the XPVM within windows 7 in explorer. so files can be backed up or just back up the whole .vhdx. The only slight niggle is sometimes when a folder is created in the VM it doesn't show up in windows 7 (if the vhdx is imported to allow 7 to see the drive in explorer) so you can createand store files within the VM but not access them within Windows 7
Any idea why that is? Or shouyld 7 and XP mode be ditched to make the leap to Win10?
I have no idea!!! but he does photography in his spare time so was prob some photo or backup program he likes using.
His old PC was from the year 2000s a socket 478 P4 and didn't even have SATA on the mobo A more interim one to a Core 2 with a 965/975 chipset would have been ideal buthe left it toolate and had to do a quantum leap
And I just realised I was a dumb f***ker I could have dual booted 7 and 10, which migh be a good answer.
