The Film and TV Thread

Postby gamerfreak » Sun Apr 20, 2008 1:03 am

Cinemas, DVD's et al.

I just watched Syriana. I didn't get it. Anyone else watched it? Only cost £3.99, and seeing as it has George Clooney in it, I decided to get it. But what a really confusing film! There is a quote on the back cover that says "Demands and deserves to be re-watched. - Sunday Telegraph". No kidding! I'm gonna have to set aside 2 hours to watch it again one day.

A good film, though. One bit in the film made me cringe, and not a lot of stuff does that because it's 'just a movie', but...

Spoiler/NSFW: (click to reveal/hide)
... the bit when George gets his nails pulled out. OMG SHIT, THAT WAS SICK! But I continued watching. 8)

Honestly, though, for people that have seen it. Did you 'get it' first time?

Just read the synopsis and the reviews. Might have to check that out. You saying that reminds me of Scanners. OMFG that was sick. Heads exploded, man! EXPLODED!

Syriana and A Scanner Darkly will have to be gotten on BD when they come out, methinks. They both look like my cup of tea.

Good man. 8)

It's a very good film, but a re-watch is a must. Which is a bit of a shame, but oh well. Probably gonna watch Superbad for the first time today. Saw the preview on the PS3 demo pod in Blockbuster and although there was no sound, it looked funny.

I haven't seen Godfather, but I still want to. I enjoyed Scarface and Donnie Brasco was alright.

Meet The Spartans is shit
One Missed Call could have been good but is shit
Juno is ace
Spiderwick Chronicles is pretty good for a "kids" movie
27 Dresses is actually pretty funny, for a chick flick. I nearly sobbed at the end.
Finally got around to watching 30 Days of Night and Daywatch t'other week - both pretty good, although I reckon you really need to watch Nightwatch and Daywatch together.

So yeah. Might go see The Eye later. I want to watch Street Kings to see if Keanu Reeves has learned how to act yet.

I want to see Made Of Honor. Patrick Dempsey is fast becoming my new hero, and it's got a chick in sexy lingerie in it. Good enough for me.

I think me and Jo are going to go and see Russell Brand's new film this week as well. Christ knows when, mind.

I was quite surprised at his performance in A Scanner Darkly, even though I think he's a pretty good actor myself (can't really see why people criticize him)

But yeah, A Scanner Darkly is awesome.
