The Mega Music Thread

What do you reckon to the lineup at Oxygen Festival?
I'm half tempted, to see if the Oirish can run a festival any better than us...

I'd rather go to Leeds/Reading and see The Smashing Pumpkins. Haven't seen 'em live in over 10 years, and would love to do so again.

Except I can't, because all the weekend tickets for those festivals have sold out and did so within minutes. It's the same for V which is my local one and would've been nice to have the option to visit. What's happening these days with festivals selling out within minutes? It never used to be like that 3-4 years ago: You could still get tickets up to about a fortnight before the festival itself.

Is it people just chucking them on eBay now? Is that why the tickets sell out so quick? I know a few people will, but it must be a good few tens of thousands of people doing it to make the thing sell out so quickly if that's the case.

It's a fair whinge though. Any decent event has touts buying thousands of tickets, then ebaying the buggers for profit.
Can't they make you turn up with the credit card you purchased the original with or something?

Probably, but then you end up with even bigger queues on the door and riots and stuff. Probably.

Reading/Leeds looks proper ace this year. I'd love to have gone, but even if there were still tickets available we wouldn't have had the money for them.

*begins plans for JoeStock Festival instead*

Touts are cunts.

I thought about Leeds, but I don't want to pay £150 to see some relatively mediocre bands combined with excessive all day drinking. If there was anyone I genuinely liked playing (like 2005 Very Happy) then I'd pay, but not for the current lineup.

+1 to all that.

Leeds '04 and '05 both kicked bottom.

I just ordered the Domain of Death album by Mortician.

Cool
It might look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm really quite busy.

I just ordered a Gershwin album. I really need to stop buying albums because of vaguely anti-religious themes running through a song on them.

I have also raided my parents CD collection, and now have Phil Collins, Santana, Oasis, The Beetles and Sting fired up Cool
