PC Format

Postby JustExtreme » Thu Nov 28, 2013 1:50 am

Does anyone read PCF anymore? AFAIK this forum was set up as an alternative to the official PCF forum which was offloaded to Techradar then deleted. What's the best place to contact PC Format these days? Just been searching for them on techradar but can't find any way of contacting them.

Is there not an email address inside the magazine?

I'm only guessing, I've not bought it for years.

I still have quite a lot of old DVD covers (empty) with the inserts turned inside out.
The last is from March 2005. The address given at that time is as below.

E-mail: pcfdiscs@futurenet.co.uk

Cool thanks.

Do you guys read any print PC magazines anymore?

I still quite like PCF and tend to get a sub for Xmas but the format of PC Format (haha) has been the same for quite a long time. I wonder if the circulation has taken a dive or something. Back when there used to be an active forum it seemed like more of a community than just a magazine.

PCF is on its arse:

6,249 (2012)
8,009 (2011)
9,318 (2010)
11,914 (2009)
18,003 (2008)

I would expect that to be in the 5K now, but PCF is no longer ABC registered. I guess they did that because there's no benefit to showing that no-one is buying your magazine any more.

That covers 2012's data, which is why it's the exact same figure as I posted ;)

Ah silly me. Ask Luis is still probably my favourite section and the reviews mostly are OK. Seems a bit dormant though.

I still read Luis, as he writes for the BBC Focus magazine in a Q&A style too. Still very entertaining, and still very knowledgeable.

I describe it as New Scientist for chavs. It's very good, but if you're expecting minute details on things then it's not for you. I find it an informative but easy read, something you can learn a lot from but you don't need a PhD to understand.

If you PM your address I'll send you the current issue once I've finished with it, haven't opened it up yet. Gratis, like.

Hmm wouldn't mind giving it a go actually. The other magazines I currently subscribe to are a bit heavy (Private Eye, New Internationalist) and it could be a good idea give something a bit lighter a go...
