Sad, sad news indeed. Iain Banks has terminal cancer.

Man that's sad.

There's that twisted sense of humour of his... He proposed to his partner by asking her - 'Will you do me the honour of becoming my widow?".

Coincidentally, two or three nights ago I decided to read through my collection of all his sci-fi novels again.
I'm half way through Consider Phlebas.

I didn't realise he had a new Culture book out - "The Hydrogen Sonata"
I'll save that for the end and I guess that will be that so.

Fuck.

James Herbert is actually dead, like, right now. Another author of incredible talent with some great stories, and no more. All very sad indeed.

A slight majority of a statistically worthless sample size agree.

Bollocks. That was quick.
I thought I'd get to the end of my collection of his sci-fi and read his 2 new ones before he shuffled off. Oh well.

Requiescat in pace.
