No because their speed restricters would be removed.

I can see the headlines now, FTA insists cars must be limited to the inside two lanes to make way for faster oving lorries!!!

So if lorries didn't have a speed restrictor on them, how fast could they go? I'm guessing wind resistance will hit them in a big way, and current gearing doesn't allow for a massive top speed, I'm just curious more than anything.

New ones have pissy little eco engines not the monster V8s of old so in many cases they never need restricting while loaded.

It would be better if roads were either widened to 3 lanes, OR on 2 lane roads, lorries are banned from overtaking.

The number of times you see one lorry doing 0.5 mph more than another and going for an overtake, causing miles of queued traffic and clogging up the roads! GRR!
