Edit: What's next? Traditionally after such an event, it's celebrated by mass executions of the losing side, but Turkey is supposed to be a modern nation that's hoping to join the EU one day, so acting like some podunk third world dictatorship surviving an attempt to be lead by a junta isn't really in their best interests at the moment.

They're already calling for a return of the death penalty.
This is a country that the EU are trying to fast track into membership and people wonder why so many voted out.
A slight majority of a statistically worthless sample size agree.

Well I don't think any of the 28 EU states have the death penalty, so good luck getting in if they do bring it back.

And if they bring it in and retroactively apply it to the people involved in the coup, then I'd imagine the UN getting involved for crimes against humanity.
