My sister had gigabit when she managed a hotel in Tokyo. She said you never got the use out of it as most servers can't feed things at that speed.
A slight majority of a statistically worthless sample size agree.

Most servers can't feed one user at gigabit speed let alone many all connected at once.

They'd be better off making sure every home can get 50Meg, before these silly speeds.

There is also Hyperoptic, it's the ex-BeThere founders who are now building out their own FTTH network.
