Also, for a whole year Win10 is free to any 7 or 8 owners. Score! :)

And you can stream Xbone games to your PC. If they can just make it work the other way too, that'll kill off the Steam Machines nicely.

They surely got to implement that part too.

Not that Microsoft are trying to encourage people to move off Windows 7 or anything.

But seriously. When it comes along, for fuck's sake, get it. The last thing we want is Windows 7 dragging on like another Windows XP...

Did my Win10 update earlier today. I'm surprised at how smoothly it all went - I didn't have to go and backup loads of stuff or reinstall missing applications, and some of the applications that had previously broken (long story short: numerous Windows updates prevented certain applications from starting at all unless they were in compatibility mode) now open with no problems. I thought it was a bit weird that it didn't make much noise about product keys, but apparently it just registers the machine with Microsoft servers instead, which is novel.

The Start menu could be better - I'm not going to use half of that stuff on the right, and I keep clicking "File Explorer" thinking it's "All apps", but I imagine I'll get used to all of that. And I get Candy Crush pre-installed!...er, yay?

Are there any interesting new things I can do with my Windows Phone now that I have a Win10 PC or is it just the same old companion app stuff?

I had to force mine, I wasn't prepared to wait any longer.

Install went well on the 4th time of downloading it, can't really blame MS as I'm technically jumping the queue, thankfully it was only 2.8GB in size. Everything worked fine afterwards apart from the display drivers, although for some reason a restart fixed that.

I like it. The search bar thing at the bottom seems a bit in the way (ah, just found how to hide it, never mind), but the smaller icons are welcome as I can fit more in now. Yeah, seems more modern, can't complain for a freebie.

I got it totally free on my Mac with no prior version. I installed the preview in parallels and it auto updated to the OEM Pro version. Love MS for trying hard to kill old versions and stop fragmentation.

It's great. It loads like before the electric is in its veins.

I just got it. I like it.

I fired up Internet Explorer (or whatever it is called now) in order to download firefox. Was nearly tempted to keep using IE as it was so fast and fluid.

I think it's called Bing or Bang or possibly Bosh.

The only problem with Edge is it uses up more memory than Chrome (something I thought was previously impossible). At least with Chrome there are extensions that help to manage it.

Is memory even an issue these days to be honest...

I'd say 1.26GB usage for a web browser is excessive.

True that, come to think of it I have battlelog open in Chrome rather than FF when playing BF4.
