Anyone else got a laptop with Intel Sandybridge (2nd gen) CPU with Intel HD 3000 graphics? If yes, do you get the issue I describe above? (Laptop screen not being recognised in Win 10). If yes, have you found a workaround?

It's broken my wireless adapter too. It randomly fails now and it's a known issue. Unplug, replug carry on, wait for fix.

One now has Windows 10. :)

I had to flash a BIOS update to make it work. No idea WHY that should do it, but it did.

I'm still yet to swap to Windows 10 on my gaming PC, my mum's laptops have both been upgraded though, one from Windows 7 and the other from Windows 8. So far she's liking it, other than the newer laptop's extremely annoying touchpad that is almost but not quite unusable!
It was the same with Windows 8 though.

I've not had any real issues with any Windows since '98. That was the last truly PITA one for me. Vista, 8.1 and 10 have all been great, and stable and usable as anything.

Had issues with XP but that was down to my crappy chinese quality wifi dongle.

Since then it's been plain sailing. Had one or two bluescreens on 10, but that's down to a known problem with Speccy, which I check my temps with.

Upgraded to Win 10 Pro last night.

My copy of Win 7 Ultimate was... ahem.... not positioned to upgrade. :D
So I bought a couple of keys off Kinguin for €18 each. Bargain.

I like it so far.
But I'm thinking it will take me some time to tweak it to where I'm happy with it.
So far I've spent most of my time trying to get it to stop trying to look down my knickers.

This guy worked for Microsoft for 15 years and seems to know his stuff.
You can get Anti-Beacon here. It stops a lot of the background whispering that Win 10 does.

I usually butcher the heck out of my installs, but I've left this one alone to see if I can use it as it wants me too, rather than try to fudge it to suit my needs. Well, aside from removing the useless Cortana search bit from the Start bar.

Still love it, still think it's the best OS I've used for years.

I'm trying to do the same thing. I'm going to use Edge with Bing Bong for the moment.
I'm even using the "C" drive for my docs. I usually move the My Docs folder to "D" which is where I've kept all my data since Win98se.
I'm copying all the old shit back in but deleting the crap as I go. I just did my Pictures/TOP folder. That was a lot of crap to delete. :D

Oh I fucked Edge off, FF for me. And I use multiple drives for different things.

Why the hell would you use Edge and Bing.

Seriously.

Talking of browsers, on my mac I'm slowly starting to use Safari instead of Chrome because it's just feeling a bit laggy and annoying.

On windows I'm solely using FF. :thumb:

:D

Edge because I feel I should give it a chance as I haven't used it before.
Don't worry, if I decide it's shite it will go down the toilet.

Bing because even thought I've been associating the word "Fuck" with "Bing" ever since MS first tried to get me to use it,
I've grown to hate Google and Duck Duck Go can't even find itself so again, I'll give it a go.

@Ekona - I will still use my "D" (Data) drive for all my important data.
But it feels good to be getting rid of all that old crap.
For example I just deleted my log on details for... mininova.

Ok so fuck Edge, and fuck Bing. I've gone back to FF & Google.
I am liking Win10, but fuck me it's a bit of a trial.
I seem to be spending most of my time trying to get it to stop doing shit I don't want it to do.
The latest was when I got in and turned the PC on,
I went to make tea and arrived back to see a notification dissapearing off the screen.
Re-anabled Action Centre to see what the fuck it was, only to find that a couple of picture collections had been made for me.
One was the old wallpaper files from my Kindle. :?
The other was of a very pretty girl doing a striptease that I have hidden inside a non-descript folder.
WTF!? Fuck off! Don't do that. And stay the fuck out of my stuff you nosey cunt.

I can't help with hiding your porn stash, but give Edge another go once they update it to support extensions.

That said, fuck Bing. There's no hope for that one...
