Pokémon GO

Postby RB » Sat Jul 09, 2016 10:07 pm

I've never played a Pokémon game in my life but I'm liking this.
I found Pidgeys nesting in the public toilets in my town :D

I'm off to the beach tomorrow to get some watery fuckers.

It seems amusing.
I'd like to try it out.
But I don't have an Android.

As soon as this hits the Euro iOS store, I'm all over it.

If it was the 8-bit era and someone told me we'd go from eating pills and chasing ghosts in a dark maze-like room to literally seeing pocket monsters projected into reality I'd need a moment to sit down.

Anyway, I have a Lumia and my ancient iPod stopped updating at 6.x, so for the moment I'll continue with awful touchscreen Street Fighter on dodgy marketplace emulators.

So, so good. Went on a pokewalk today with mates, so many others playing it too, we were definitely the oldest though

I went to the local supermarket earlier to get some lunch, and there was a couple of older people (about 70 or so) discussing about how they'd been playing it

My typical Pokésesh:

Kid: Oi mister, are you playing Pokémon?
Me: Er, yes.
Kid: Aren't you too old for games?
Me: <10 minute rant about growing up with games and how owning every console ever made gives me more right to be a gamer than a 12 year old n00b.>
Kid: Weirdo .... walks away

Also, I'm 30 candies away from evolving a Magikarp. Oh fuck yes.

Nice 8)

Is there a nod/shake/gesture to use when you encounter other players? There should be.

Yeah, it felt a bit creepy waiting in the park with a bunch of kids for the servers to come back up.

I hit level 20 today, unlocking Ultra Balls.

From this point onwards I understand I'm basically into endgame territory - wherein the XP requirements for each subsequent level increase exponentially - so my interest in the game will likely shift from XP grinding to whatever new features are on the horizon.

Oooh I'm not far behind you, only another few thousand XP to go on lvl 19 :)

My interest has died since they bollocksed up the Pokemon nearby stuff. If they release the new way to the rest of us then I'll get back into it hardcore, but for now I'm just a bit more casual about it. Still go for a Pokewalk every evening after work though :D
