I have had posts edited by mods and they have not left notes, nor have they indicated reasons why they have been edited.

This is wrong.

The last post edited by a moderator was the firest post in "Non-Essential Free software" by Tinlad on the 14/12/07, the post mod-edit prior to that was on the 22/11/07 when a few people partook in changing some of smilers's words around in the "RE: photoshop" thread because he was being a numpty. Then there were no edits till september...

Logging of mod actions in the mod control panel is rather handy ain't it.

I hate to break it to you, but as a Tech mod it appears you're only aware of Tech edits. Hyder's post was indeed edited by a global moderator because he jumped into a thread he never posts in and called it shit.

Whilst I can kinda see Hyder's point on this one as I don't really like stealth edits either and always try to leave a comment if I've done it, if you know full well that a post was edited for obvious reasons (as seems to be the case here) then you can hardly moan about it.

Saying that, I would personally like every mod to at least leave a small 'Edited by' remark at the end of any edited post. If you're in there editing the post anyway it takes like 3 secs to add that, and keeps everyone happy. That's just my preference though, and it doesn't mean that anyone has to listen to me.
